Carmand’s Partnership with North East Lincolnshire Health and Care Partnership People and Skills Pledge

Carmand, a dedicated provider of forensic mental health and learning disability care, has always prioritised the professional development of its staff to ensure high-quality care for its service users.

Recognising the need for continuous upskilling, Carmand sought support from the North East Lincolnshire Health and Care Partnership People and Skills Pledge (NEL HCP PSP) to enhance the qualifications of its workforce.
With limited resources, Carmand faced challenges in funding the necessary training and development programs for its staff and reached out to the PSP team for help in sourcing funds to upskill five support workers and the manager,
to improve service delivery and leadership within the organisation. The People and Skills Pledge team facilitated the sourcing of apprenticeship levy transfer funds, totalling £34,000, from larger Health & Social Care organisations. These funds were crucial in enabling Carmand to enrol five support workers in Level 2 Adult Care Worker and Level 3 Lead Adult Care Worker apprenticeships. Additionally, the manager embarked on a Level 7 Senior Leader qualification.

Karl Piddington-Smith, Manager at Carmand, expressed his gratitude, stating,

I cannot fault the People and Skills Pledge team, they are phenomenal and offer such a brilliant, unique service

The apprenticeship levy transfer process was streamlined by the People and Skills Pledge team, ensuring a smooth and efficient allocation of funds. Larger organisations within the sector, recognising the importance of supporting smaller employers, willingly contributed to the levy transfer, demonstrating a strong commitment to sector-wide partnership working and highlighting the collaborative spirit within the Health and Social Care Sector.
